Rihanna shelters a tearful young fan from the snow.

It may be cold outside, but this scene would melt anyone’s heart. Rihanna made a fan’s day on Friday night outside the Barclays Center in New York. With snow falling around her, the singer had taken refuge under a large umbrella as she left the basketball when a tiny fan noticed her.

Despite the cold, the 25-year-old stopped to talk to the young girl, who promptly started crying. Without hesitation the Stay songstress reached out and gave the pint-sized fan an big hug. As if reenacting the lyrics from her biggest hit Umbrella, RiRi pulled the fan in under the protection of the parasol she was carrying.

The gesture, while simple, clearly meant a lot to the little girl and, not to mention, was also just plain adorable. Snow aside, all round it was a great night for Rihanna who had just watched her team the Brooklyn Nets defeat Miami Heat. For her night of basketball action, the pop star dressed decidedly down compared to her normally statement ensembles.
The 25-year-old wore a pair of black Timberlands with straight leg blue jeans and white T-shirt under a big blue parker. Rihanna wore little make-up and left her hair our in waves, showing off the shaved side of her head. The game was no doubt a nice break for the star who is about to be very busy again with her latest single, Can’t Remember To Forget You, to be released this week. The song is a collaboration with Latin singer Shakira.
