A rep for the Beverly Hills PD confirmed that the department has launched a battery investigation involving the rapper, hours after TMZ reported details about an alleged attack in a local medical building. According to TMZ's report, West became enraged after an 18-year-old man directed racial slurs at fiancée Kim Kardashian and punched the teen in the face.
"The named suspect was identified as Kanye West by the victim and several witnesses," police said in a statement issued to The Los Angeles Times on Monday, adding that West had already left the scene before officers arrived. Authorities will be conducting a follow-up investigation into the matter.
MTV News' request for a statement has not yet been answered.
West is currently facing charges stemming from an incident last July involving paparazzi at LAX. In November, West pleaded not guilty to charges of battery and grand theft in connection with the incident.
Last week, West unveiled a slew of new Yeezus Tour dates for February. 'Ye will stop in Baltimore, Newark, Albany, Atlantic City and a couple stops in Canada, among others, during the tour's next leg.
During Yeezy's last tour stop of 2013, the rapper told the audience that he had resolved to stop "talking sh--" in 2014. "This is the last time you'll ever hear me say [anything] negative about anyone," he told the Toronto audience.
