Sure Jennifer Lawrence has universal acclaim, wins Golden Globes, and even manages to create memes wherever she goes (talk about a #covermoment)... But what she really wants to do is direct. Speaking with press backstage at the Awards:
"My passion for directing happened the same time as it did for my acting," Lawrence said. "I would love to direct, but I won't want to suck. I want to keep learning from the best."
With that in mind, it's only a matter of time before the busy actress is wooed to the dark side of the camera. So what, exactly, would Lawrence direct
This is the most likely suspect for Lawrence's burgeoning career; to start small and figure out how to work with a crew from a more commanding station. Taking a page from Natalie Portman's playbook, not to be confused with the "Silver Linings Playbook," Lawrence could even try to direct a short in a bigger film anthology. That way all the pressure won't be on her solo, a good thing for a sure to be scrutinized debut.
An Episode Of An Anthology Show
Alternately Lawrence could go the Jodie Foster route. Foster, after (and during) a long career as a successful actress, went on to direct "Little Man Tate" and other movies, but her first at bat was an episode of "Tales from the Darkside." Considering the show is getting rebooted for a new generation, maybe The CW should give Lawrence a call
An Indie Character Study
Another icon Lawrence should be looking towards for advice is Robert Redford. Redford was two decades into his career when he directed "Ordinary People," which won him an Oscar for Best Director. Lawrence has only been around for less than half that time, but what won Redford awards wasn't age, it was crafting a piece heavy on the acting and dialogue rather than explosive effects. Hopefully Lawrence will do the same.
"X-Men: Mystique"
...But if she doesn't, maybe she could direct herself in an "X-Men" spin-off movie? We already posited that a Mystique solo feature is a no brainer for FOX. Superhero movies make money, Lawrence is a huge star, and the concept of a shape-changing secret agent is just too good to pass up. It might be tough to pull double duty, but Jon Favreau and Clint Eastwood have done it multiple times, so why can't Lawrence?
"X-Men: Apocalypse"
While we're thinking big, Bryan Singer hasn't officially signed on to direct 2016's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" sequel yet, and rumors are saying that Lawrence wants to pull out of the series entirely. What better way to lure her back than a chance to direct one of the biggest blockbusters of the year?

Bear with us: a comedy in the vein of "American Pie" isn't the highest status thing Lawrence could attach to her name. But time and again, the actress has shown a fondness for really, really gross stuff. She's even appearing in a cameo in "Dumb and Dumber To," so there's no reason to think that she wouldn't jump at the chance to head up "Bad Babysitter" or "American Barfers." Both of those aren't real movies.
